Perioperative theatre technology is one of the fastest growing medical fields in Kenya.

Perioperative theatre technologist are tasked with assisting surgeons during operation procedures with preparing the surgery room, assisting during surgery, cleaning surgical equipment’s, taking care of theatre equipment’s among other roles. 

In Kenya, the course is offered at both certificate and diploma level. In this article, we will share with you the requirements for both certificate and diploma, as well as a list if institutions offering the course.

Certificate in perioperative theatre technology requirements

To study a certificate course in theatre technology, you are required to meet the following requirements.

1. KCSE mean grade of D plain (D plus in some colleges).
2. There are no minimum subject requirements for this course.

The certificate course takes one year to complete.

A diploma course in the program requires a KCSE mean grade of C minus or a certificate in the same course. Diploma takes a minimum of two years.
