A diploma in Information Technology (IT) is a two to three-year diploma course offered in public and private colleges and universities in Kenya.

The course covers modules in structural programming, web development, artificial intelligence, cyber security, computer maintenance, software engineering, routing and switching, object-oriented programming, network essentials, operating systems, computer maintenance, and more.

Once you graduate, you enrol for a bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering or a related program. Some career options for a diploma in information technology include: software engineering, front-end and back-end web development, DevOps engineering, mobile apps development, webmaster and more.

Admission requirements for a diploma in information technology

To secure admission to the course, you need to meet the following entry requirements.

  1. Have at least C minus in KCSE for direct entry.
  2. There are no minimum subject requirements for the course.
  3. A certificate in information technology, software development/engineering or a related course is also acceptable.
