According to the Ministry of Health, a clinical officer’s scope of work includes taking medical history, examining, investigating, diagnosing, treating and managing diseases.

The course covers core modules in anatomy, pharmacology, biochemistry, microbiology, reproductive health, surgery, therapeutics, health systems management and more.

Requirements for Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery

To be admitted into this program, you need to meet the following requirements.

  1. A KCSE mean grade of C plain or above.
  2. C plain in English/Kiswahili.
  3. C plain in biology/biological science.
  4. C minus in either chemistry, physics, or mathematics.

Note that the above requirements also apply to the KMTC clinical medicine diploma program.

Fee structure for diploma in clinical medicine

In general, a diploma in clinical medicine costs between KSH 44, 000 and KSH 55, 000 per semester.

The fee structure for clinical medicine students at KMTC is Between KSH 39, 000 and 44, 000 per semester depending on the year of study.
