The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) is Kenya’s largest medical training college. It has 71 campuses and graduates over 20,000 students every year. The institution offers medical courses at certificate, diploma, and higher diploma levels.
In this article, we will share all KMTC courses and qualification requirements for courses in 2025. We advise you to apply for a course that you meet the entry requirements for as set by the institution and regulatory bodies.

Some diploma courses have an admission requirement of at least C minus while others like a diploma in mortuary science require at least C plain in KCSE. Diploma courses take at least three years to complete excluding mandatory internships for courses like clinical medicine and nursing.
Unlike Diplomas, Certificate courses have an entry grade of either C minus or D plus and take at least two years to complete.

Diploma in emergency medical technology
A diploma in EMT has an overall grade requirement of at least C plain with a D plus in biology.
Diploma in Mortuary Science
Diploma in mortuary science in a new KMTC course added to the institution’s brochure in 2023.
It’s the only course of its kind in eastern and central Africa. The entry requirement for the program is at least C minus in KCSE. There are no minimum subject requirements for the course.

Kenya Medical Training College has eight certificate courses that can be upgraded to a diploma after graduation. They are:
- Certificate in Medical Emergency Technician.
- Certificate in Community Health Assistant.
- Certificate in Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine.
- Certificate in Community Health Nursing.
- Certificate in Public Health.
- Certificate in Medical Engineering.
- Certificate in Nutrition & Dietetics.
- Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology.

Fee Structure 2025
The fee structure for regular students (Government sponsored) is Ksh 82, 200 for the first year, Ksh 78, 000 for the second year, and Ksh 78, 000 for the third year.
The fee structure for self-sponsored students is as follows:
- First Year – Ksh 122, 200
- Second year – Ksh 118, 000
- Third year – 118, 000
Internation students will be required to pay Ksh 252, 200 in the first year, Ksh 248, 000 in the second year, and the same amount for the third year.
Details on meals and accommodation will be provided upon admission.
KMTC courses application process
As of 2025, KMTC course applications are done through the KUCCPS portal. The portal is open for applications whenever there are open slots at the college. The March 2025 intake ended on 14th February 2025.
A public notice is made on KUCCPS course applications whenever the portal opens for applications.
