A Bachelor of Education Science in Kenya is a 4-year university course that will prepare you for a career in education (Secondary school science teacher).

After four years of training, you will be required to register with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) a body dedicated to registering and employing teachers in Kenya

Admission Requirements for Bachelor of Education science in Kenya

To secure a direct entry for the course, you need to meet the following requirements. These are also the KCSE qualification requirements set by the Teachers Service Commission.

  1. At least C plus in KCSE.
  2. C plus or above in two teaching subjects.

Cluster points range from 37 to as low as 22. Competitive universities such as the University of Nairobi have higher cluster points.

As mentioned earlier, you are required to have two teaching subjects to be registered as a teacher by TSC. The following are Bachelor Education Science combinations that you can pursue.

Pursuing teaching after completing another degree

If you enroll in another course, you can still become a teacher after graduation. You can do this by pursuing a post-graduate diploma in education. However, TSC does not accept all courses.

For example, if you hold a degree in Biochemistry and then enroll for a post-graduate diploma in education (Biology/chemistry). TSC will not register you.
